GRAIN MILL OVERVIEW:
Jim Boney malt mills are introductory grain mills, ideal for use with a 1 bbl brewing system, a 3 bbl brewing system, or a 5 bbl brewing system. Featuring the 3 roller technology found in our larger malt mills, these commercial grain mills use 6-inch diamond knurled rollers. The 50 lb hopper can hold 2 bags of malt. The grain mills crack 20 pounds of malt per minute.
Jim Boney malt mills are grain mills that includes 3 rollers made with 1018 cold rolled steel. We cut our own diamond knurl pattern on each roller, and then case harden the steel to 60Rcw. The two top rollers are fixed at a gap of .062”. The bottom roller is held in an eccentric housing, which allows for adjustments of the gap between .040″ and .055″. All the rollers run on radial bearings with solid steel shafts. The two top rollers are driven with steel spur gears by a belt and pulley. The hopper will hold 50 lbs of grain.
POWERING THE GRAIN MILL:
Jim Boney malt mills are powered by 1 hp. motor U.L. approved, sealed and fan cooled. An explosion proof fan cooled motor (XP) is also available. We also can provide 3Phase or 240v motors or wiring options. The motor mounts on a swinging mount and the belt is tensioned with two springs.
